Contemporary Dance – Cunningham – Limon

Classical and contemporary dancer and choreographer (Nora Kiss and Yves Casati. Techniques Jose Limon, Merce Cunningham and Alwin Nikolais). After studying theater sciences and techniques and dance (University of Paris VIII and Sorbonne), she enters the Choreographic Group of the Sorbonne, as a dancer and choreographer.

The same year, she was selected with Laïla Heuberger and Philippe Chaussecourte for the Bagnolet choreographic competition and for the Volinin Prize (For the dance: “…the trio “Orders to be spared” proves a fine and grating humor…”). She then founded her company.

Chartres Theater commissioned several choreographic pieces from him, performed in Paris, in the provinces and abroad, including Et dire qu'Aurélie adores le vent!... with Thierry Galtier (La République du Centre: "Emotion and humor here combine with wonder…”; Les saisons de la danse: “Resolutely poetic, punctuated with original discoveries…”). From 1987 to 1990, Catherine directed the contemporary dance choreographic workshop at the Théâtre de Chartres.

In 1994, she signed with Frédéric Lazzarelli Truck and Tulls, a burlesque duo they created at Mimodrame Marcel Marceau theater in Paris (Les saisons de la danse: “A ballet where we have fun, where we really dance… in short, an hour of delirium, of good taste where constant invention brings joy to the public…”).

Until 1995, Catherine taught classical and contemporary dance in her own dance school in Chartres. Since 1988, she has been teaching contemporary dance at the Center de danse du Marais in Paris.
