Israeli folk dance is an amalgamation of Jewish and non-Jewish dances originating from various parts of the world. While in other countries, folk dance is mainly about preserving old rural traditions, in Israel it has been in full development since its beginnings in the 1940s.

It is based on ancient and modern historical sources as well as biblical associations and contemporary styles.

The courses offered at the Center de Danse du Marais cover all the styles of this folklore: Traditional and modern dances, Hassidic, Klezmer, Oriental, Yemeni, Druze, Bedouin etc.
